Gentry County Release Records
A release is one custody event, not a single form used by every agency. A Gentry County booking may close after bond, a court order, dismissal, sentence completion, transfer, or delivery to the Missouri Department of Corrections. Only some of those paths place the person in the community. A transfer closes one agency's custody episode while another agency takes charge. The sheriff's disposition entry, the receiving agency's record, and the court docket must be read in sequence.
That distinction is especially important in Gentry County. The official county directory identifies the sheriff but does not publish a jail page, custody roster, recent-release feed, or physical detention address. A person may have been booked under local authority without being housed at the administrative mailing address. The search must establish where the person was held before deciding which office can confirm the physical exit.
Gentry County Release Paths
Gentry County release records should state the event that ended local custody and, when applicable, the authority or destination. The court may supply the legal basis, while the holding agency records the actual movement. These common paths lead to different next searches.
| Release path | What it means | Best next record |
|---|---|---|
| Bond or recognizance | The person leaves local custody under court-set terms. | Sheriff release entry and Case.net bond docket |
| Court order or dismissal | Legal authority ends or changes the local hold. | Court order plus the holding jail's exit time |
| Time served | The local custody term is complete. | Judgment, jail credit, and release disposition |
| Transfer | Another jail or agency receives the person. | Transfer entry and receiving-facility record |
| MODOC commitment | State custody continues after local custody ends. | MODOC active search and sentence record |
| Parole or conditional release | Prison confinement ends while state supervision continues. | MODOC status and District 1 supervision record |
A detainer, warrant, or commitment can prevent a community release even when one case appears complete. Do not read “released” as “free of all custody” until the destination field or receiving source has been checked.
Fields in Gentry Release Records
The county does not publish a field dictionary, so no online screen can be promised. A focused Chapter 610 request can ask for the releasable booking sheet, custody-log disposition, transfer record, and booking photograph. If maintained and open, the record may contain the following details.
| Field | What it shows |
|---|---|
| Name and identifying number | Connects the disposition to the correct booking or jacket. |
| Booking date and agency | Marks the start and source of the custody episode. |
| Physical holding facility | Identifies the office that completed the release or transfer. |
| Release date and time | Records when that facility ended its custody episode. |
| Release type or authority | Distinguishes bond, order, time served, transfer, or commitment. |
| Court and case number | Links the custody event to the legal docket. |
| Receiving agency or destination | Shows whether custody continued elsewhere. |
The court docket is related but different. It proves what the court ordered and may show bond, judgment, probation, a warrant, or commitment. It does not necessarily record the hour when staff completed release processing.
Note: Ask for a named record and date range, since a broad request for all information may slow the custodian's search.
Request Gentry County Release Records
Send the local request to Sheriff Nicholas J. Tompkins, PO Box 37, Albany, MO 64402. The published telephone is 660-726-3721 and the fax is 660-726-3665. Begin by asking the sheriff to identify both the records custodian and the physical facility that held the person. If routing remains uncertain, Gentry County Clerk Shelia Clark can help identify the current custodian through the courthouse office.
- Give the full name, approximate booking and release dates, birth date if known, case number, and arresting agency.
- Request the releasable booking sheet, the disposition entry with release date, time, and type, and any transfer record naming the receiving agency.
- Ask for an electronic copy and an itemized cost estimate before work if charges may apply.
- Request the statutory basis for any redaction or denial, and keep proof of delivery with every response.
RSMo 610.023 requires a public body to identify its custodian and act on a request as soon as possible, no later than the end of the third business day. That is an action deadline, not always a production deadline. If records cannot be ready, the response must explain the delay and provide the earliest date they can be available.
Gentry Release Fees and Access
Gentry County publishes no special flat fee for release records. Missouri's general fee rule controls the request. Under RSMo 610.026, ordinary paper copies no larger than 9 by 14 inches are capped at ten cents per page. Duplication labor may use the average hourly clerical rate, and actual research cost may apply. Electronic files and pictures use the statute's copy, media, and staff-time framework. The office may require prepayment.
RSMo 610.100 defines arrest reports to include arrest, detention or confinement, and charge information. Incident and arrest reports are open, subject to statutory limits. When no charge is filed within thirty days, much of the arrest report may close, yet the disposition portion remains accessible. That makes a narrow release or transfer request more useful than asking for an entire investigative file.
Correcting Gentry Release Records
A local release-record error belongs with the office that created the record. Write to the Gentry County sheriff or actual holding jail, name the booking, identify the exact field, explain the claimed error, and attach a primary document that supports the correction. Ask whether the source can be corrected or whether an explanatory note can be added. A court error follows the clerk and court process. A state offender-data error belongs with MODOC.
After final state supervision discharge, the person may vanish from the live MODOC name search because that search expressly excludes discharged offenders. The nightly current-and-prior offender file is the official historical route. It also provides field documentation for coded events and sentence dates. A change at one source does not automatically update the sheriff, court, DOC, or every copied record.
Note: Keep the agency's written answer, since a later search result alone may not explain why a field changed.
Closed Gentry Release Records
Missouri expungement can close records that once documented an arrest, case, custody episode, or release. RSMo 610.140 sets eligibility, exclusions, timing, and procedure. Section 610.120 then governs the treatment of closed records. A qualifying order is sent to record holders, but it does not mean every copy on every system disappears at the same moment.
If a Gentry County release record or court entry that once appeared later cannot be found, several causes are possible. The record may be expunged or sealed, the agency may have applied a retention action, or the public portal may have changed. Ask the custodian rather than assume one reason. Court access rules also restrict some filings and images even while the case index or disposition remains public.
Find Released Gentry County Inmates
The best search follows custody from one source to the next. Gentry County has no verified recent-release page, and the county directory does not document the physical detention arrangement. Start with the name, booking date, court case, and arresting agency. Then establish the actual holding facility.
- Call the Gentry County sheriff to confirm which facility held the person and whether the local event was release, transfer, bond-out, or MODOC commitment.
- Search Missouri Case.net for the Gentry criminal case, reading bond, release, judgment, sentence, probation, warrant, and commitment entries in order.
- Check MOVANS for a participating local custody or court event, while treating an alert as notice rather than a certified release record.
- Use the MODOC active search when the person entered state prison, parole, probation, or conditional release.
- Use the current-and-prior MODOC data after full discharge, and BOP, ICE, or federal court sources only when the custody path is federal.
- Request the sheriff or receiving-facility disposition when public portals leave the release type or destination unclear.
The Gentry County post-release supervision page explains how parole, probation, conditional release, and final discharge change what the active MODOC search can show.
Identify Gentry's Holding Facility
The Gentry County directory lists the sheriff through a post office box. It does not affirm a detention street address, capacity, visitation schedule, roster, or contracted receiving jail. Conflicting directory claims cannot safely fill that gap. The first local question is therefore simple: which physical facility held this person on the date of the booking?
Once the sheriff identifies the facility, ask that facility for the release or transfer entry. A neighboring county's current roster is relevant only if the sheriff confirms that it received this booking. It must not be treated as a Gentry County roster by default. The cautious facility treatment is explained on the Gentry County Sheriff's Office release page.
The official elected-officials directory is the source for the sheriff and Circuit Clerk contacts.
The county page confirms the administrative contacts while leaving the physical detention arrangement unstated, which is why a call must precede any facility-specific search.
Pair Gentry Court and Release Records
Gentry County lies in Missouri's Fourth Judicial Circuit. Missouri Case.net is the durable public route after a name leaves a custody system. Search the litigant or case number, choose the Gentry criminal case, and read the docket chronologically. Bond changes, release conditions, dismissal, judgment, jail credit, probation, commitment, revocation, and discharge can explain why custody changed.
The Case.net screen supports a legal-outcome search, but it does not replace the holding jail's physical release time or transfer destination. Circuit Clerk Janet Parsons is listed at 200 W. Clay, Albany, MO 64402, with telephone 660-726-3618 and fax 660-726-4102 for copies that are not remotely available.
Missouri Search for Gentry Releases
The MODOC Offender Web Search covers active offenders, including people in prison, on probation, or on parole. Search an exact last and first name, retry an alias or spelling variant, compare the DOC number and identifiers, then separate custody, sentence, and supervision details. Parole or conditional release means prison confinement ended while state jurisdiction continued.
The warning on the live search is decisive: it does not provide information on discharged offenders. When a known former MODOC person is missing, use the current-and-prior data file or contact MODOC Constituent Services. The inquiry route asks for a correctly spelled full name and, when available, DOC number and birth date.
| Search detail | How to use it | Limit |
|---|---|---|
| Name and alias | Retry known spellings and aliases. | A name match alone is not enough. |
| DOC number | Use it to distinguish similar names. | It applies to the state record, not a local booking number. |
| Custody or supervision status | Separate prison, parole, probation, and conditional release. | Full discharge removes the person from live-search coverage. |
| Minimum or presumptive date | Read the exact label and official definition. | A projected date is not proof that release occurred. |
Recent Gentry County Releases
No official Gentry County current roster, 24-hour release list, 72-hour release list, released-booking archive, or sheriff inmate app was found in the July 2026 source sweep. The absence of a feed does not mean no one was released. It means there is no verified public window from which to create a list.
For a same-day event, call the sheriff, identify the physical holding facility, check the legal event in Case.net, and search MOVANS. For a three-day or weekend period, ask whether a bounded release report exists. If it does not, request named booking records. An empty MOVANS local search can also mean the jail is offline, and an alert marked release can describe a transfer from one agency to another.
Note: “Twenty-four hours” and “seventy-two hours” would describe display windows, not a legal retention period for sheriff records.
Federal Gentry Release Lookup
A federal path needs a separate source. The BOP Inmate Locator covers federal prisoners from 1982 forward and can show a release date with “Released” or “Not in BOP Custody.” That result only ends BOP custody. It does not rule out another case, supervised release, immigration custody, or a stay handled solely by the U.S. Marshals Service.
ICE's online locator searches current immigration detention, not historical releases. No result may follow release, transfer, removal, a data mismatch, or an excluded record. USMS has no comparable public historical locator. For those gaps, use the physical holding jail, the federal court docket, the responsible agency, and a formal records request. Gentry County has no officially identified federal prison or dedicated ICE detention site.
Track Gentry Release Requests
The 2026 Missouri State Auditor report for Gentry County found that the county had not adopted the written public-access policy required by Section 610.028 and did not maintain request documentation. The auditor recommended a policy and a log recording the request date, description, completion date, and costs.
This official process finding does not show that any particular release-record request will fail. It does support careful recordkeeping by the requester. Keep the dated request, delivery proof, fax confirmation or mail tracking, replies, estimates, and copies produced. Ask for the named custodian at the outset and personally track the third-business-day action milestone in Section 610.023.
If the office asks for clarification or sends a cost estimate, answer promptly and retain that exchange with the request log. Missouri's current fee statute includes rules for requests that are left unpaid or unanswered. A clear reply protects the request from being treated as withdrawn and creates a useful timeline if the scope, cost, or production date later needs to be reviewed.
Gentry County Release Facility
The Facility Map supports one cautious page: the Gentry County Sheriff's Office and local detention function. Official sources do not justify extra pages for a state prison, federal facility, ICE site, or a named neighboring jail in Gentry County. A case-specific receiving agency can still become the source of a later release record after a documented transfer.
- Local authority
- Confirm the release, bond-out, transfer, or time-served event with the sheriff and actual holding facility.
- State commitment
- Use MODOC once the person has been accepted into state custody.
- Community supervision
- Use the active MODOC record and assigned District 1 office for parole, probation, or conditional release.
- Final discharge
- Use the current-and-prior MODOC data because the live name search excludes discharged people.
